the sound of QUEENS UNIVERSITY BELFAST

Set up as a radio station in 2003 (the radio society at Queen’s dates back as far as 1953) and broadcasting online ever since, QR has consistently endeavoured to be a hub for all kinds of music. With our studio located at the heart of Queens in the SU, we always aim to be one of the most welcoming and friendly societies for its members.

We’re as busy off air as we are on air, making connections with the cultural scene around Belfast and providing a platform for up and coming bands. With a packed calendar of events planned for the year ahead, including collaborating with other Queen’s societies, we’ll be all over campus and the city with local gigs, news, documentaries and everything in between.

Since 2020 we have also been a part of the Student Radio Association, Granting us access to UK wide networking and industry opportunities including Conference and our yearly Awards in London. These are all great ways to get a foot in the door of the industry and be part of the massive famiy that makes Radio so special.

With the newer additions of The Scoop and QRTV in later years, we continue to offer a diverse range of ways to become part of the family and give things a go. As after all, thats what being a Student is all about!

WE ARE MORE THAN JUST A STUDENT SOCIETY!

Queen’s Radio provides its members the chance to present, produce and more, passing on invaluable experience for future careers in the media industry. We work closely with the Students’ Union, local industry and businesses to ensure we’re not only heard around campus but have a visible presence at events across Belfast. We pride ourselves to be at the forefront of making the next generation of Broadcasters, and hope you will join us on that very journey!
